Why Interns Make the Whole Team Better

There’s a lot of talk about what interns gain from agency experience: real client work, mentorship, portfolio pieces, and a chance to see how the marketing sausage gets made.

All true.

But here’s the part that doesn’t get said enough: interns make us better, too.

At DARCI Creative, bringing interns onto the team has never been about handing off busy work or creating a rotating door of coffee-fetching clichés. We don’t have time for that, and honestly, neither do they.

Our interns are here to learn, contribute, ask questions, jump into real projects, and bring fresh perspectives to the work happening across the agency.

And every summer, they remind us why that matters.

More Hands, More Momentum

Agency life moves fast. There are campaigns to launch, websites to build, videos to edit, content calendars to fill, analytics to review, and about 47 tabs open at any given time.

Interns help create momentum.

They support the details that keep projects moving, but they also bring curiosity into the process. A good question from someone newer to the field can make a team pause, rethink, explain, simplify, or improve something that has become second nature.

That kind of energy is good for the work.

Fresh Perspective Is a Real Asset

Marketing changes constantly. Platforms shift. Search behavior evolves. Social trends come and go before most of us have had enough coffee to process them.

Interns bring a valuable perspective because they are actively learning the current landscape while also experiencing it as users, creators, and consumers. They notice things. They ask why. They challenge the “because we’ve always done it this way” mindset that can sneak into any industry if you let it.

And yes, sometimes they also help us figure out what everyone is suddenly saying on TikTok.

A win is a win.

Mentorship Builds Stronger Teams

Working with interns also gives our team the chance to lead, teach, and communicate more intentionally.

When you have to explain your process to someone else, you sharpen it. When you coach someone through a project, you think more carefully about why certain decisions matter. When you make space for questions, you create a better environment for everyone.

Mentorship is not separate from the work. It strengthens the work.

Community Has Always Been Part of the DARCI Creative Story

We have been rooted in the Portsmouth community since 2006, and part of that responsibility is helping create opportunities for the next generation of creatives, strategists, marketers, and problem-solvers.

Internships give students and emerging professionals a real look inside the industry. They also give us the chance to invest in talent, support local education and career development, and build relationships that often last well beyond a single summer.

Some interns come in knowing exactly what they want to do. Some discover a new path while they are here. Either way, we love being part of that process.

Meet Our Summer Interns

This summer, we are excited to welcome interns across several departments at DARCI Creative.

Tori is joining our SEO team, working alongside Eric and Erin to support search strategy, content optimization, reporting, and the behind-the-scenes work that helps clients get found.

Julie is joining our Photo/Video team, working with Paul on production support, on-site shoots, editing, and the many moving pieces that bring visual stories to life.

Emma is joining our Social Media team, working with Kris on video creation, graphic design, scheduling, engagement, trend research, and the strategy that keeps brands showing up with purpose.

Good Work Is a Team Sport

Interns bring more than extra support. They bring perspective, energy, questions, and a reminder that the best teams are always learning.

We are proud to welcome this year’s summer interns and excited to see the ideas, creativity, and momentum they bring to the agency.

Around here, great work has always been a team sport.

And this summer, the team just got stronger.
